There is a reason why Luke Skywalker hasn’t been seen in Star Wars 7: The Force Awakens yet, although J.J. Abrams is not ready to share why just yet.

J.J. Abrams was interviewed by The Sydney Morning Star (via Star Wars Underworld). When asked about the whereabouts of Luke Skywalker, Abrams gave a small answer on that topic.

He said: “These are good questions to be asking, I can’t wait for you to find out the answer… It’s no accident.” The marketing team has been purposefully hiding the character, and it sounds like the movie will explain why we haven’t seen him yet.

Luke Skywalker along with Snoke (Andy Serkis) are two big characters that we have yet to see in Star Wars 7: The Force Awakens. The latter character is a new bad guy who is supposed to be the boss of Kylo Ren. As for Luke Skywalker, it’s interesting that Disney is not letting us see what he looks like.

People are speculating that Luke Skywalker could have turned to the dark side in the new movie. However, that would kind of ruin the character as he tried so hard to convert Darth Vader back to the light side in the original trilogy. Maybe the character is already dead and is a ghost now?

Elsewhere in the same interview, Abrams mentioned that they are still in the editing room ironing out all of the visual effects. This process will take another three to four weeks. There is also a few more sessions to add in John Williams’ score too.
