In a succinct tweet that is sure to upset Xbox One users who hoped to see Shenmue III arrive on the platform, Deep Silver poured water on the rumors that the next installment of the game would be making its way to the console.

The tweet comes after people found references to the platform in the code of the official pre-order page. Unfortunately, it seems that those were strictly references, perhaps elements of the code designed to have the page run smoother if viewed on the console. Shenmue III is the third installment in the series and is being developed by Neilo and Ys Net. It will release on November 19 for PlayStation and Windows PC.

There is no planned version of Shenmue III for Xbox One.

Initially, the game’s budget was crowdfunded, with Deep Silver and Sony eventually stepping in to provide additional funding. Everything revealed about the game to date implies it will be staying very true to its routes, and the story will continue to be focused on Ryo Kazuki’s attempted to track down his father’s killer in 1980’s China.

While it would obviously have been nice to see the game come to Xbox One, Deep Silver quick squashed the rumor with their tweet, and it seems the game won’t be coming to platform at any time in the foreseeable future.
