Sony has admitted once again that there are currently no first-party PS Vita games in development.

Sony Computer Entertainment Senior Vice President Masayasu Ito was interviewed by 4Gamer where he discussed the status of the company’s portable console.

He said that currently, “first party studios have no titles in development for PS Vita.” He also said Sony itself is more focusing on the PS4 right now, with third parties doing work on the portable console.

Ito also mentioned that the console did not resonate really well with gamers under the age of 20. However, the release of Minecraft: PS Vita Edition has boosted that demographic. He thne reiterated again that many third party studios have games planned for the future.

The main reason the console did not sell well is the rise of smartphones and tablets. Younger gamers were exposed to those devices more so a dedicated portable gaming system wasn’t really needed.

The PS Vita has become more of a side device for some PS4 owners. Many people use it for Remote Play which is a cool feature to use. Sadly, it looks like not many AAA exclusives will be coming to the console from Sony as the company is more focused on the more successful PS4.
