The cel-shaded shooter XIII was released for the PlayStation 2, original Xbox, Nintendo GameCube, and PC in 2003. A remake was developed in 2020, but compared to the original, it was not good enough to meet expectations. It seems this has been a problem for publisher Microids after almost two years because the remake is being redeveloped – Let’s say it’s a remake of the remake.
A Remake of the XIII Remake is Coming
XIII wasn’t a hit like Call of Duty in 2003 because of its comic graphics, but very popular among those who played it. And XIII had almost everything for those days – a great story, varied levels, functional shooter mechanics, and playful freedom.
According to the game’s Steam page, an update for the remake of XIII will be made available on September 13th, 2022, and this update will completely change the remake. Publisher Microids has put Tower Five (Lornsword: Winter Chronicle) as the developer team on the new update. They will have to ensure that the game’s visual style will be adjusted to look more like the original.
To achieve the quality standards and offer an optimal gaming experience, Microids decided to entrust the development of XIII Remake to the French studio Tower Five (Lornsword: Winter Chronicle). Hard at work for more than a year on a major update. This update will be released on September 13th.
In addition, owners of the game will receive a free update on September 13th and can play the game as a whole new. The development team completely will redesign the game, from the art direction to the AI, and make significant technical improvements. So, at least that’s what the publisher says.
Also, the original developer PlayMagic, massively affected by the pandemic, is no longer involved. It’s worth noting that if the new remake fails, you can get the classic version of XIII on Steam.
