The Witcher Trilogy and its spin-off titles are all seeing a massive reduction in price over the Steam Winter Sale.
The trilogy includes The Witcher (2007), The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings (2011), and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt (2015). Steam is offering 70% off the standard price of the games, and a further 10% if bought as a bundle.
The games are an adaptation of Andrzej Sapkowski’s novels from the 90s, acting as an unofficial sequel to the books. These deals on the trilogy come as perfect timing for fans as it coincides with Netflix’s adaptation of the source material. The TV show has received mixed reviews, but fans are loving it. While unrelated, Netflix’s The Witcher is based solely on the books, so it will act as a precursor to the games. The TV show will handle the origin of many characters, including Geralt of Rivia, Yennefer, and Ciri, who will feature in the games.
The Witcher 3, if bought with the bundle, does not come with the DLC (downloadable content), but that’s also on offer. Hearts of Stone, the first of the story DLC, is reduced from $10 to $4, and Blood and Wine, the second and final, is reduced from $20 to $8.
Spin-offs
Along with the trilogy itself, there are also deals on spin-off titles. Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales (2018) received a 50% discount, reducing it from $30 to $15. Thronebreaker tells the tale of Queen Meve of Lyria and Rivia with an RPG decision tree and many possible endstates. Interestingly, Gwent, the Witcher card game, is the combat mechanic as you fight in battles throughout.
The Witcher Adventure Game (2014) is also reduced in price. This is a digital adaptation of The Witcher board game, where you can play as Geralt, Triss, Dandelion, or Yarpen Zigrin. This has been reduced by a whopping 85%, dropping from $9 to $1.30. This is an absolute steal if Netflix and the main games haven’t satisfied your cravings.
CD Projekt has also recently struck a new deal with Andrzej Sapkowski, so it’s likely that we’ll see more Witcher games in the future.
