Today we got yet another big news. Besides the release date of Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty, there’s another beloved studio with a big announcement. The Witcher Remake is now confirmed. CD Projekt Red, through their social media, has announced that they are rebuilding the first game of the franchise in Unreal Engine 5. This is something great because, as we know, the first The Witcher game didn’t age quite well. But, with a new engine and hopefully patience, we know they’ll be able to deliver something great. This is yet another big announcement besides the Cyberpunk sequel and other The Witcher games in the works.

The Witcher Remake is being rebuilt in Unreal Engine 5

While we have few details as of right now, it is now confirmed that the remake will happen. When? We don’t know. However, the developers made clear that they want to make this game good. So, it would seem that they learned from their mistakes with Cyberpunk 2077 or so we hope. Which, despite its flaws, it has gained a lot of players due to the anime release. So, we can only hope that when The Witcher Remake releases, it’ll be in a solid and playable state.

We’re thrilled to reveal that, together with @Fools_Theory, we’re working on remaking The Witcher using Unreal Engine 5 (codename: Canis Majoris)!

We want to do this right, so please be patient — it’s gonna be a while until we can share more details. ⚔️ https://t.co/6VCAokPgXs pic.twitter.com/ERFOXQrUEP

The Witcher: Blood Origin Release Date Is Here

While it isn’t official yet, given how the game will be made with Unreal Engine 5, we can expect it to be next-gen only. As we know, the developers stopped supporting Cyberpunk 2077 on current-gen consoles. That is why we think The Witcher Remake will only launch on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. Yet, this is only our speculation, nothing solid yet. While there isn’t any other information yet, the news for the remake is more than confirmed. And, while we wait, we can all wait for the upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 expansion and just keep enjoying Night City which has improved with the latest updates. Also, remember that we are officially in the season of releases with Bayonetta 3 around the corner, God of War: Ragnarok, and Sonic Frontiers releasing too.
