Players looking to become a monster slayer in the world of The Witcher may be in luck. CD Projekt’s mobile game, The Witcher: Monster Slayer, makes its way to iOS and Android devices starting on July 21.
Made by developer Spokko, the mobile game makes use of the augmented reality technology where it makes use of your location in real-time. On the game’s official Twitter page, they announced when it drops, which will be this month, and it’ll be free for all mobile users. The game runs similar to how Pokemon Go works, as it uses the camera on a mobile device to detect creatures and can be rendered onto a surrounding environment. The game does take place long before the main games, so players will need to fill in the roles of a Witcher to take down these powerful beasts.

In The Witcher: Monster Slayer, players will be stepping into the role of a Witcher during a time when the monster slayer profession is in its infancy. As you traverse in the real world, you’ll be using your mobile device to scout actual locations and use the AR system to battle monsters that appear in your surrounding area. Monster slaying is only part of the game, as there are other features in the game like conducting your own investigations and talking to NPCs. Much of what you play will take on RPG elements like previous titles in the main series.
Pre-registration is now open on the Google Play store for Android uses, which can help you earn a Morhen Steel Sword. You’ll also receive 10% more experience points for every monster you slay.
