The Witcher 3 GOTY Edition might just be making its way to the Switch in September 2019. The game has been listed by assorted retailers on Taobao, implying that this is less of a leak and more about somebody jumping the gun on an announcement. Weibo is currently filling up with images from assorted retailers announcing the game for Switch, and the September launch window.

Bringing a game with the size and scale of The Witcher 3 to the Switch sounds optimistic, but the game could very well be getting a streamable version, just like Resident Evil 7 did. I’d actually go so far as to say that this is the only way bringing it to the console would make sense, as it seems almost impossible that the system could run even a scaled-down version of the very demanding title.

The Witcher 3 is CD Projekt Red’s most successful game to date, with a huge following all over the world. I am sure a sizable portion of Switch owners would be interested in being able to play the game on that platform. At the moment, we don’t know if this release would be limited to Asian markets only, or if it would be extended globally.

One other interesting piece of information, according to a thread on Reset Era, the game will have an exclusive Chinese localization in the Asian version. Now, what this says about the Switch launching in China is anybody’s guess, as it is honestly very hard to predict what can happen with both Nintendo and the Chinese market.

Whether this rumor turns out to be true, or just another internet whisper that we amplified too much, we will keep you updated as more information becomes available.
