Since the release of Netflix’s The Witcher starring Henry Cavill, The Witcher 3’s popularity on Steam has skyrocketed. The previously held peak player count was 92,268 in May 2o15, the game’s release month. As of today, the peak number of players hit 93,835.

The Witcher is everywhere at the moment, and the news keeps coming. Global Community Lead for CD Projekt Red, Marcin Momot, broke this news today on Twitter.

On top of The Witcher 3, the first two games of the trilogy have also seen a massive boost in players. The Witcher: Enhanced Edition, a remaster of the original game, has also topped its player numbers. Like the third game, the first’s previously held peak was in May 2015 with 8,300 players. As of this month, The Witcher peaked at 12,000 players. The game has seen a percent gain of 189%.

As for The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings, it has seen a gain of 109.08%. The peak player number remains at 12,800 from May 2015, but it has seen its highest since, with 6,000.

The Witcher Trilogy is currently discounted in Steam’s Winter Sale, which will be a significant factor in bringing players to the game. But it’s Netflix’s show that will bring in the most players. After seeing Henry Cavillembody Geralt of Rivia in both mannerisms and sword skills, it comes as no surprise that players want to jump back into the game and do their own ‘witchering.’

Although CD Projekt Red has confirmed Geralt’s story is finished, there is also the chance of a new Witcher game being released. CD Projekt Red and author Andrzej  Sapkowski have struck a new deal that grants the developer new rights regarding the Witcher games.
