“Patrol Gone Missing” is a Trophy Side Quest in The Witcher 3 that tasks Geralt with investigating the disappearance of a Nilfgaardian patrol. Players can get started on this quest by heading to the Nilfgaardian Army Group Center Camp, a sizeable landmark in the southeastern corner of Velen. Here, Geralt can examine the local Notice Board to accept the quest or speak directly to the camp’s Quartermaster, Eggebracht. The Quartermaster will explain the situation about his missing men, assigning Geralt of Rivia to the detective duty of discovering the cause of the small unit’s disappearance. Completing this Trophy Quest will reward participants with 50 Crowns and Character EXP.

Completing the Patrol Gone Missing Quest in The Witcher 3

After receiving the instructions for the “Patrol Gone Missing” quest from Quartermaster Eggebracht, Geralt must search for the campsite where the missing unit was stationed in Velen of The Witcher 3. For reference, the location players are searching can be found northwest of the Nilfgaardian Army Group Center Camp, south of an unnamed and unmarked guard tower on the map.

How to Get Manticore Armor in The Witcher 3

If players investigate the area where the main road meets the marshland’s lake, they will discover a small campsite. Using Geralt’s Witcher Sense, quest participants must examine the campfire and the footprints leading away from the campgrounds. During the trek through the forests, players will encounter several hostile Wolves and more POIs to examine, including patches of blood and more footprints. Eventually, the markings revealed by Geralt’s Witcher sense will lead players to the antagonist of the “Patrol Gone Missing” quest in The Witcher 3, a Wyvern.

As a Draconoid, the Wyvern that The Witcher 3 players encounter during “Patrol Gone Missing” is weak to the Grapeshot Bomb, which comes in handy whenever the creature attempts to attack from the air. As one would expect, Draconid Oil, a concoction made from Dog Tallow and Ergot Seeds, is exceptionally effective against the Wyvern, enabling Geralt to deal more damage with his Silver Sword. Finally, sources at the Witcher Wiki recommend that players use the Aard symbol to knock down the Wyvern when it is in the air. It also is useful to temporarily stun the beast during combat. Once the Draconid has been slain, players can return to the Nilfgaardian Quartermaster and receive their quest reward.

The Witcher 3 is available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and Series S, and PC.
