Before Telltale shut down last year, they released a Switch port of the first season of The Walking Dead. Episodes of The Final Season also came out on the Switch concurrent to their releases on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
However, Season Two and the third season A New Frontier have yet to make the jump to the Switch. Both seasons were scheduled to be released on the Switch today, Sept. 10, alongside the PS4, Xbox One, and PC release of The Telltale Definitive Series. These releases are getting delayed.
Skybound Games recently announced on Twitter that Season Two and A New Frontier would not be releasing on the Switch as previously intended. They did not mention a reason—Skybound “[found] things out last minute” that prevented the planned release of the ports. The tweet did not mention a future release date. Skybound promises more details, “very soon!”
When Season Two and A New Frontier do eventually get their Switch ports, they will release with a Graphic Black art style. It’s a new art design initially developed for The Final Season. In the Definitive Series, this art style can work with the earlier games in the series. Players will be able to turn the Graphic Black art style on or off when Season Two and A New Frontier eventually make their way to the Switch. There is still no word yet on when Switch players can expect a port of the mini-series The Walking Dead: Michonne.
For those with other platforms, The Walking Dead: The Telltale Definitive Series came out today for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. This collection contains all four main seasons of the series and the Michonne mini-series. It also includes several extras like developer commentary and a character model viewer.
