The Walking Dead series from Telltale is considered one of gaming’s greats when it comes to narrative storytelling. The first season took the world by storm, offering many advancements in the genre and helping to spawn later successes. Despite that, it appears Telltale is done with the series now that Season 4 is released. As per a tweet from the official Skybound Entertainment account, Telltale has no Walking Dead titles in development right now and no plans for it.
Quite frankly, there’s no reason for a Season 5 to exist, to begin with. Season 4 wrapped up Clementine’s story well, and it wouldn’t be right to continue in the end. Season 4 was also referred to as The Walking Dead: The Final Season, pretty much serving as a finite end to that story. Despite that though, I can understand why people would want more Telltale Walking Dead content. It goes down as one of my favorite franchises ever, so more of that wouldn’t be something to complain about.
While they might not have other Walking Dead games in development, Telltale still has a few tricks up their sleeve. Most notably there’s a new The Wolf Among Us season in development. That game went under the radar and is some of Telltale’s best work. Otherwise, the team still holds the rights to Batman and Puzzle Agent, so it’s exciting to see what could be introduced to those franchises. Mind you nothing else has been revealed though so take that with a grain of salt.
