Prepare for undead slaughter in this brand new immersive virtual reality experience based on the popular AMC show. The Walking Dead Onslaught drops today, and developer Survios and AMC have assembled a launch trailer that showcases the mechanics and characters that fans will become familiar with. Focusing on a singular player equipping an Oculus headset, we’re transported into the world created by Robert Kirkman. Accompanied by somber music, the trailer presents multiple kills against the herds of the undead while switching between interactions with well-known faces and explorations amid a cold and deadly world.
The Walking Dead Onslaught takes place after the Savior War in Alexandria where our protagonists are moving on to the next chapter in their zombie-infested lifetime. The game tells the untold tale of Daryl Dixon’s encounter with a stranger, whom you will mostly follow along with as you grab, whack, and shoot down hordes of growling fiends.
In The Walking Dead Onslaught’s Scavenger Mode, players can assume the roles of Rick, Daryl, Michonne, and Carol to go on supply runs to further build your community as you continue to search for survivors and modify your weaponry. The Walking Dead Onslaught features the voice talents of Norman Reedus, Melissa McBride, and Josh McDermitt, with an original story that was composed in consultation with the producers of the show.
Starting now, players can purchase a digital copy of The Walking Dead Onslaught on PlayStation VR, Oculus Rift, and Steam VR. There is a Standard Edition available for $29.99; the Digital Deluxe Edition will be priced at $39.99 that comes with the Iconic Weapons skins pack, the Alexandria Crafting Starter Kit, an art book, and a mini-soundtrack. Players who purchase via the PlayStation Store will also receive a special PS4 theme and an avatar pack.
