This little drone will open a lot of doors for you.
In The Surge 2 you’ll come across doors locked by an electrical panel requiring the EMP-44 Starfish to unlock, so how do you acquire one? Turns out you just need to beat a boss.
Defeat Little Johnny to unlock the EMP-44 Starfish.
It really is as simple as that. As you progress in the game, you’ll come to Port Nixon. Progressing through this zone will eventually lead you to the Little Johnny boss encounter. There is nothing cosmic you need to do. Just convert Little Johnny from living tissue to dead tissue, and you’ll be rewarded with the little shock drone.
To use it, just equip it or favorite it from the gear menu, under the drone slot. Whenever you see a panel with a star icon over it, turn and face the panel, equip the Starfish, and click the drone button (Y or the 3 key). The drone will fire out an EMP charge that will either take a few seconds to go off, or can be detonated manually by hitting the drone button again. You can also use the EMP-44 Starfish to briefly interrupt enemies, as well stack electrical damage (pairing the little guy with an electric weapon will lead to you stunning enemies outright).
That’s how to acquire the EMP-44 Starfish. Progress the story and work through Port Nixon. After you’ve rid the world of Little Johnny the drone is yours. Now, if only there was a boss after Johnny the Starfish was useful on.
