The Suicide Squad TV spinoff, known as Peacemaker, has been ordered by HBO Max.
Marking the latest major DC Comics original to make its way to HBO Max, Peacemaker, which is set to star John Cena, will be delving into the origins of Cena’s character from the film. The titular character, created by Joe Gill and Pat Boyette first appearing in the Fightin’ 5 series, is someone who believes in peace at any cost. If a few people have to die along the way, that’s no problem.
Delving into the first incarnation of Peacemaker, the TV series, which is scheduled to begin production in early 2021, will extend on the world created by Gunn for the Warner Bros Pictures film which is set to hit theatres on August 6, 2021.
James Gunn and The Suicide Squad producer Peter Safran will serve as executive producers of the series, with Cena as co-executive producer. The Suicide Squad director will also be writing all episodes of the eight-episode first season in addition to directing a few of them. Speaking of the upcoming series, James Gunn said the following:
