Where were you when you first saw The Sims? Were you a small child visiting a friend? Was a family member trying out a life simulator where they had all the power? No matter where you first saw The Sims, the goofy extravagance of the character’s lives definitely made for a memorable experience. When you think about The Sims, you can easily say that it is one of three titles keeping EA alive. This is obvious because The Sims has now been around for 20 years. In celebration, EA has partnered with Vanessa Hudgens and other personalities for the Playing with Life celebration.

On February 4th, 2020, The Sims turned 20 years old. To commemorate the monumental occasion, EA has collaborated with Vanessa Hudgens, British YouTuber and filmmaker Joe Sugg, German LGBT YouTuber and advocate Melina Sophie, French pop singer Bilal Hassani, and Polish actor Adam Zdrójkowski. This collaboration is to showcase that people from every walks of life can sit down and pretend to be someone else. The Sims has always been about extravagance. Whether you want to live your life as a pop star or burn down your house, you can!

Over the last 20 years, The Sims has expanded gender representation options and honoring diverse real-world cultures through in-game items. EA is delighted when players from around the world share their experiences with The Sims and Sims 4 on social media. Life is never just black and white. Each person’s experience is never quite the same and there is always something we can learn from somebody else.

The Playing with Life movement is about expressing yourself through your character. Create the character and world you want in more ways than ever. You can even now have a Baby Yoda in your world, or twenty. Marry death if you like!
