A new set of The Sims 4 DLC kits have been announced. Try to hold in your utmost surprise. When it comes to milking a game for all its worth, EA has turned the practice into a fine art. Easily the finest example of this is, of course, The Sims 4. To date, 58 The Sims 4 DLC packs have been released, according to Steam. But the wild ride of rampant commercialization is far from coming to a close anytime soon.

How to tell The Sims 4 Kits, Packs, And Expansions Apart

The Sims 4 DLC is arranged into four distinct categories:

  • Expansions: Major pieces of content that introduce new gameplay mechanics, new settings, and other major additions.
  • Game Packs: Moderate-sized content packages similar to Expansions but boasting a smaller scale comparatively.
  • Stuff Packs: Minor additions that generally add a single specific new gameplay mechanic, as well as a small number of new assets.
  • Kits: Usually cosmetic-only additions, adding new clothes or customization options, often supplemental material for larger packs.

What’s coming next?

The new kits, labeled the First Fits Kit and the Desert Luxe Kit, will introduce new clothing options for your Sims. While the full product descriptions have yet to go live, the official The Sims Twitter account provided the following:

“Up your child Sims’ closets with trendy patterns & colorful fits, or relax into sophisticated desert-style furniture in the First Fits Kit and the Desert Luxe Kit.”

While some players dispute the sometimes lackluster amount of content added to these Packs and Kits, the overall quality of the added items is rarely in dispute. With any luck, this trend will remain true in both of these upcoming kits.

The First Fits Kit will release on September 1st, with the other The Sims 4 DLC, Desert Luxe Kit, to follow two weeks later, on September 14th. Only a little time left before players are free to update those closets and living rooms.
