33 years going and The Simpsons has remained as popular as ever, becoming the most-streamed show on Disney+ for 2021. The animated comedy created by Matt Groening tops popular new shows on Disney+, such as Wandavision, The Mandalorian, Loki, and The Falcon & the Winter Soldier. While anticipation for these shows was high, they couldn’t top everyone’s favorite yellow family.

Beginning in 1989, The Simpsons is now in its 33rd season and there are no plans to stop any time soon. While it is not a Disney property, Disney acquired it through the acquisition of Fox and put all of the previous seasons (700+ episodes) onto Disney+. The sitcom features Homer, Marge, Lisa, Bart, and Maggie Simpson, along with a world filled with odd and colorful side characters. Since arriving on Disney+, there have been several shorts, including Plusaversary, which combined The Simpsons and various other Disney-owned properties.

According to data shared by What’s On Disney Plus, The Simpsons was the most popular show in 2021 on the streaming service, topping pre-school television shows like Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and Bluey, along with Loki, Hawkeye, and The Mandalorian. Obviously, since there are so many episodes of The Simpsons, it does have a slight advantage as viewers have so much content from which to choose.

Disney+ has become one of the biggest streaming services within the streaming wars. In 2022, the service is expected to premiere several new Marvel TV shows including Moon Knight, She-Hulk, and Ms. Marvel. Currently, Disney+ has The Book of Boba Fett which releases a new episode weekly. It’s unclear if Disney+ is out-streaming competitors like Prime Video or Netflix, but it’s certainly in the running.

Disney also owns Fox animated television shows like Family Guy and Bob’s Burgers. However, these will most likely remain on Hulu as these shows are more adult. If you want to accomplish the challenge of binging all of The Simpsons, give it a shot on Disney+ now.
