Hollywood’s most attractive couple, Angela Bassett and Courtney Vance, are not hiding the recipe that has helped their enduring marriage. While on the red carpet, they likened their partnership to a rock band. Happy-ever-afters are not only Hollywood fantasy ideas or stories from a rom-com and that is what Angela and Courtney, her husband of more than twenty years, are out to prove.

It did not begin with love at first sight. Though the pair met in the 1980s, as students of Yale School of Drama, their friendship was born in 1994, following a reunion. In little time, they enjoyed dates, and Bassett admitted that sharing a kiss for the first time convinced her that he was the one.

Once their relationship blossomed into romance, they sealed the deal by tying the knot in 1997. In 2006, the couple became first-time parents, welcoming their twins, Bronwyn Golden and Slater Josiah. Through their journey, they learned to balance their romantic life with parenthood and careers, never allowing any of their choices to get in the way.

Amid their intense connection is their reputation for playing teammates on the red carpet. For Sunday night’s Critic Choice Awards, Angela Bassett and Courtney Vance looked dashing, evidencing a healthy marriage. The duo also dived into their seemingly perfect relationship, sharing the key ingredients to being a happy Hollywood duo.

Angela Bassett and Courtney Vance Spills Their Secret At Critics Choice Awards

Angela Bassett and Courtney Vance told People on the red carpet that their love pattern has involved sacrifices in both parts. Vance noted:

He was brutally honest about how it was almost impossible to have a flawless relationship in the beginning, as they were selfish and sought individual glory. After twenty-five years together, the pair have formed a solid bond which they sweetly celebrate. The icing on the cake is how they have allowed their past to influence them positively.

Vance is equally his wife’s number one fan. On Sunday, the award winner supported his wife as she carted off with the best supporting actress award for her role in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

Less than a week ago, she bagged another accolade at the Golden Globes for her role as Queen Ramonda in Black Panther, with her Mr. Right present. Bassett acknowledges that she is the queen of her husband’s heart, and she has chosen to reciprocate the same love, support, and gratitude to him. Following her Golden Globe win, the actress extended a heart of gratitude to her husband, family and a few of Marvel’s crew members.
