The People’s Champ, The Rock, is making a return to where his career began with the WWE after broadcasting it on social media earlier.

In a rare instance of not posting Kevin Hart short jokes, the 10-time world champion took to Twitter today to announce his return to WWE to the Friday Night SmackDown premiere on Fox.

FINALLY…I come back home to my @WWE universe. This FRIDAY NIGHT, I’ll return for our debut of SMACKDOWN!LIVE on @FOXTV.There’s no greater title than #thepeopleschamp. And there’s no place like home.Tequila on me after the show ??#IfYaSmell? #Smackdown#RocksShow #FOX pic.twitter.com/V5i4cxqIqH

The Hobbs and Shaw star quietly “revealed retired” from the sports entertainment giant earlier this year. His last match being a six-second match against Eric Rowan at WrestleMania. Maybe, the expression of “not being paid by the minute” applies to Rocky…or seconds in this case

After closing the reported five year $1 billion dollar deal with Fox, WWE is reintroducing pyro to both their flagship shows and bringing out the big names for SmackDown’s premiere. Besides The Rock, some of the names appearing will include Stone Cold Steve Austin, Brock Lesnar and more.

Rocky’s violent love child

According to The Rock, the SmackDown show was named after he told WWE Chairman Vince McMahon he was going to use the phrase in his promo. The chairman asked what it meant for Rock to reply, ” it means I’m gonna whoop some ass,” to which McMahon gave his blessing.

The Rock seemingly ended the rivalry Fast and Furious co-star Vin Diesel that has been cooking these past years. Expect someone to get those years of frustration in the form of a Rock Bottom, SmackDown is celebrating 20 years of adults fighting in their underwear with the season premiere on Fox this Friday, Oct.4th.
