At the end of last week, The Quarry premiered – a new narrative adventure game from Supermassive Games, made in the mood of classic horror and is an ideological continuation of Until Dawn. But we wouldn’t have seen The Quarry on consoles and PC if Google hadn’t stopped creating Stadia exclusives.

Google Stops Stadia Exclusives, and The Quarry Come Is In The Middle

Supermassive Games is still in good shape after the release of The Quarry, its new narrative adventure after The Dark Pictures Anthology, and Until Dawn. Still, this new title might not have gotten the best response if the latest report had come true. According to Axios, the game published by 2K Games began development for Google Stadia as the exclusive platform.

According to Axios Gaming’s newsletter, 2K Games and Google would have agreed to make The Quarry, as well as the recently announced High On Life, one of the banners of the platform. However, Google closed its exclusive titles department and canceled the real deal with 2K Games after Stadia received poor reviews and stopped its retail purchase.

In addition, The Quarry would not have been the only one since High on Life, a first-person shooter by Justin Roiland -creator of Rick and Morty- would also have an agreement to appear only on Google’s streaming platform. It is thought that these two Supermassive games will create support for Stadia, which falls more than second place in the cloud gaming world.

The Quarry was released on June 10 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox X/S, and Microsoft Windows. However, it seems weird that the game is not currently released for Google Stadia. The story of The Quarry is reminiscent of 1980s slasher films like “Friday the 13th” because several young people are also stuck in a camp, and things quickly get murderous under mysterious circumstances.
