Dangerous strangers can wear badges too.

So you’ve started The Quarry and have run into the first local while getting lost on the way to Hackett’s Quarry.  He’s a taciturn, agitated police officer who seems quick to anger, so you should choose your words carefully.  You’ve run your car off the road and narrowly dodged a wreck or collision, and even had a strange encounter in the woods at this point.  But you might be asking yourself, do my actions matter in the next steps?  Should Laura Lie to the Cop in the Prologue of The Quarry?   Read more to find out!

Should Laura Lie to the Cop in The Quarry?

While neither choice affects the outcome of the prologue, choosing to be honest about what you saw before swerving off the road and being compliant will raise the cop’s trust, which factors into play later, and lying lowers it.  Ultimately, Laura’s instincts win over, choosing not to trust the man, who is far too secretive to believe when he sends you to a motel as ominously named as the Harbinger.  Regardless of what you choose, Max and Laura go to Hackett’s Quarry.

Don’t worry too much about this choice.  Even if you choose to lie, there are still ways to prevent this from affecting the game’s outcome later on.  And keep in mind, in a game where the replayability comes in checking all possible outcomes, there’s truly no wrong answer.  But horror and general movie fans might be delighted to notice that the cop is played by Ted Raimi, brother of director Sam Raimi and an actor who has appeared in multiple roles throughout the Evil Dead franchise, Spider-Man, and more.  And yes, his character will appear again later on, without spoiling anything.
