The Outer Worlds finally hits shelves on Friday. After an E3 reveal that had most of the gaming community excited, does the game deliver?
A quick check of the reviews hitting the web today shows the title is getting a lot of love. That includes our own review, which gave The Outer Worlds four out of five stars with a “Great” rating.
Made by some of the old Fallout crew, Obsidian came into this week with most expecting a kind of outer space Fallout: New Vegas. It appears they hit the mark.
What’s more, the game, as Kotaku says in its review, does a very good job of playing politics without hitting gamers over the head. That website says The Outer Worlds is a “mirror for your politics” and offers the bonus of being “quite funny”. Polygon loved it as well, calling it the “best RPG around for those who want to yeet the rich.”.

GameSpot is giving the game a nine out of ten while EGM is giving it a perfect five out of five. Game Informer’s The Outer Worlds review shows a near-perfect game, giving it a 9.25 and IGN comes in with one of the lower scores for the big sites.
Despite being lower than some of its brethren, IGN still enjoyed its time with the Obsidian’s newest title as it earned an 8.5 rating.
Overall, each review coming in is good enough that it appears to be one of the best games of 2019. Metacritic’s composite shows it earning an 86 for the PS4 version and an 85 for the Xbox One version. Open Critic shows it with a slightly lower 83.
It’s truly been hard to find a The Outer Worlds review that doesn’t sing its praises. That’s especially good news considering Xbox Game Pass users will be able to play it when it launches at no additional cost.
The Outer Worlds launches on October 25 for the PC, Xbox One and PS4.
