Xbox has a new look to its app ahead of the Xbox Series X|S release. Like any app, re-release can always draw difficult problems. While a company may be doing their best to deliver quality, the direction they choose may not be the best. This may be the case for the new ‘from the ground up’ app that the Microsoft Xbox has decided to release. Despite the anticipation for a new system, their attempt at a companion app has come with problems.
Issues with the Xbox App
While the look is new, rebuilding the code is another story. Revamping the mobile companies app has created many unforeseen issues. For one, the Achievements section is missing entirely. This is one of the things that has helped the console family remain popular among gamers. Changing one’s profile picture is also impossible to do using the new app as well, which doesn’t help Microsoft’s case.
Also, players cannot access the Xbox Store through the app. Previously, players were able to buy games and then download when they got back home. It was convenient for those unable to stay home for Xbox store discount events. While it is a glaring issue for the tech giant, it’s not the only one accompanying the re-release of the app. Redeeming Xbox codes through the app is not possible either as the functions doesn’t appear to exist.
On Reddit, developers call it a ‘work-in-progress’. This could be an allusion to the company wanting to work out the bugs before the console launch. The Xbox Series X|S systems will launch on November 20, 2020. Both Xbox owners and developers likely hope for things to be worked out before then.
