The Midnight Suns, the mystical defenders of the Marvel Universe, return this September. Ethan Sacks and Luigi Zagari are bringing a new lineup to the fan-favorite group in a new limited series. A brand-new group of defenders will take on a dangerous enemy. While The Midnight Suns are not new to the Marvel Universe, this story will reflect the world of today.

The Midnight Suns Sounds Cool…Tell Me More

The original group, known as Midnight Sons, first appeared in 1992’s Ghost Rider #31. Members include Hellstrom, Jennifer Kale, Morbius, Werewolf by Night, Doctor Strange, and Ghost Rider. The members, with ties to the occult, came together by Doctor Strange to battle Lilith. From there, the team became the world’s defenders against the mystical.

This new series features an all-new lineup of Midnight Sons. It consists of Blade, Kushala, the Ghost Rider, Magik, Wolverine, Nico Minoru, and Zoe Laveau. This group of heroes comes together to face off against a new enemy. When a dark prophecy and apocalyptic villains with horrifying mystical powers emerge, the new team must rise and put an end to the threat. However, this new threat has ties to the Sorcerer Supreme. Why is Strange Academy student Zoe Laveau first on the Suns list?

What Do The Creators Of This Series Have To Say?

Writer Ethan Sacks shares his excitement at writing a new version of The Midnight Sons with Marvel. As a longtime fan of the group, he is “honored and stoked to continue that legacy.” He is also excited to dabble in the mystical side of the Marvel Universe. He uses this to “conjure up some wild, otherworldly action to go along with some themes that have real-world resonance.” However, as a fan of the Star Wars: Bounty Hunters concept, he is also ready to put the heroes through hell.

Meanwhile, Sacks is eager for fans to see what artist Luigi Zagria is doing with this series. He claims that his work will “cast a spell over readers.”

The Midnight Suns hits shelves on September 14th.
