As of Friday, Jon Favreau gave Star Wars fans one of the greatest gifts he could: an announcement concerning the second season of The Mandalorian. According to Favreau’s Twitter, the second season of the bounty-hunter space epic will hit Disney Plus sometime in the Fall of 2020.

While the release window is about all we know of The Mandalorian’s second season, Favreau might have given a small hint in his tweet. Along with the release date, he posted a photo of a green-skinned pig man known as Gamorreans. Fans of Star Wars might recognize these creatures from Return of the Jedi, where they guarded Jabba the Hutt’s palace. So, maybe a familiar face will make an appearance?

Excitingly enough, Jon Favreau also plans to direct an episode of the upcoming season. Carl Weathers, who plays Greef Karga in The Mandalorian, also intends to join Bryce Dallas Howard as one of the show’s guests directors.

Luckily, Star Wars fans have some exciting things on the horizon to keep them busy until next fall. Obviously, Rise of the Skywalker is in theaters now, and Star Wars Jedi: The Fallen Order is available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. As far as Disney Plus goes, there are two Star Wars shows currently in development (that we know of). One is about Ewan McGregor’s Obi-Wan Kenobi, and the other will focus on Cassian Andor from Rogue One.
