Many people loved the gameplay footage from The Legend of Zelda Wii U that was shown at The Game Awards last year. The game actually nearly could have missed the event entirely.

The host of The Game Awards, Geoff Keighley, reflected back on getting The Legend of Zelda Wii U at the show on Game Trailers Live. Keighley had pushed for previous Zelda games to appear in previous awards, but they fell through. He was super happy this new game was able to be showcased.

Keighley said he was expecting Nintendo just to show the same The Legend of Zelda Wii U footage that was from E3. However a week before the event, Aonuma and Miyamoto made a video about the game. Keighley simply said “wow” when Nintendo told him they will showcase a “full demo of the game“.

Keighley said it was very unexpected how The Legend of Zelda Wii U was put together in The Game Awards. Everyone was surprised with its great content and the fact that it was put together at the “super last minute” was amazing he added.

Keighley originally didn’t expect to see much gameplay since The Legend of Zelda Wii U was still very early in development. You can understand why since Nintendo has now delayed the game until 2016. It was pretty cool fans got to see the game last year, as we won’t see much more of the game until closer to 2016 now.
