Recently held during their E3 showcase, Nintendo unveiled lots of new information. With more DLC on games already in players’ hands, Nintendo did have something else to show. While stating that they had no major hardware reveals set for E3, they did announce a new handheld. Whilst it might not be the next Nintendo Switch people are waiting for, it is a brand new piece of hardware to debut from Nintendo. Thanks to the rampant success of the first reproduction Game and Watch, Nintendo is confident in releasing other versions. Following their mini handheld for Super Mario’s 35th anniversary, the same will be done for the NES Zelda games. Announced during the end of their E3 presentation, Zelda director Eiji Aonuma revealed a Legend of Zelda Game and Watch handheld.
What Zelda Titles Will Be Playable?
Extremely similar to the handheld released last year, the device is a Zelda themed version. Following in the celebration footsteps for Mario, the Zelda device commemorates another 35th anniversary. Featuring a full clock and timer with the original NES Zelda flair. Packaged in the device are the first two NES Zelda titles well as Link’s Awakening from the GameBoy. Additionally as a bonus, the original Game and Watch Vermin will be playable with Link’s face replacing Mr. Game and Watch’s. The device also features a fully interactable watch face. With characters and enemies moving past, players will be able to control link on the screen. With the Super Mario themed handheld being full of secrets and easter eggs, we can expect many more in this new Zelda themed version. The handheld is set to launch later this year on November 12 as a collectible for fans of the original NES Zelda franchise.
