Indie game developer Skyline Games just announced it will officially release its new game The Last Player: VR Battle Royale tomorrow.

The game will be compatible with HTC Vive, Oculus Rift, Valve Index, and Windows Mixed Reality, and as the name implies, will be a VR-exclusive multiplayer online tactical survival game.

Together with the release, Skyline Games has organized a tournament where players will face each other to win a total prize of $2,000.

The gaming company said that the rules of the game might be adjusted ‘according to the actual situation.’ Detailed times and regulations will be revealed one week before the finals.

The Last Player: VR Battle Royale will feature competitions with classic Battle Royale rules and up to 30 simultaneous players.

Players will be able to master several weapons to improve their efficiency and precision. They will also have to fight over resources and periodic airdrops to ensure survival against other teams.

So far, all pretty standard battle royale stuff, really.

However, the VR component might just make a difference here.

Multiplayer online games, like PUBG, for example, have already been adapted to virtual reality through BigScreen. It works, but requires double computational power from your GPU, and it is a somehow an imperfect adaptation of (an already not perfect) virtual reality experience

Being a native VR game, The Last Player could make a difference in the online games panorama.

Actions like jumping off a plane to reach the battleground or sneaking behind enemies to steal their weapons could really add to the gaming experience. Moreover, different weapons will have different ways of interaction and movements with the controllers, so players will have to learn how to use them.
