The review embargo for Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us has ended, and critics are voicing their opinions on the third-person post-apocalyptic PlayStation 3 exclusive. Critics far and wide are giving the game perfect, or near perfect scores. The early scores are suggesting that The Last of Us is better than Bioshock Infinite, which was sitting pretty with a score of 94 on the Metacritic review aggregator.
With early scores in the bag, The Last of Us is already standing tall with a score of 96. In a morning filled with reading reviews for the soon-to-be-released game, superlatives are being thrown around with little care.
And some of these perfect scores are coming in from sites who very rarely issue them. Edge Magazine, Giant Bomb, Destructoid, and a few others have given the game perfect marks.
It’s too early to tell if review scores will hold up for The Last Us and keep it ahead of Bioshock Infinite as far as average goes, but given the number of high marks it’s probably a game that PlayStation 3 owners shouldn’t pass on.
There are some highly trafficked sites that are giving the game significantly lower scores. GameSpot gave the game an 8, and Polygon gave the title a 7.5. But hey, you can’t please everyone.
The Last of Us will release for all on June 14th.
