Many fans are wondering whether The Last of Us Part II is releasing in 2018 or not, and while it’s quite a bit tough to think about it releasing this year, there are few hints that are apparently suggesting that solution to be possible.

The latest hint comes from Troy Baker, the actor behind the character of Joel, who has suggested in a recent interview that he just witnessed a playtest with the Naughty Dog team and, of course, that the title looks amazing.

“We just finished a playtest and it’s looking awesome, I can’t wait for it to be on shelves,” he said, somehow letting us think the development process is at least a bit ahead of what expected, or what Neil Druckmann explained a few weeks ago, when he added that it was still “a mess.”

Just to add on this consideration, it is worth to note that – as someone said on Reddit – “a playtest is the process by which a game designer tests a new game for bugs and design flaws before bringing it to market.”

We don’t know how to playtest works in Naughty Dog, though: it might have been conducted on a limited portion of the title, rather than ‘simply’ – and most interestingly in terms of when the game might be shipped – on the complete version of The Last of Us: Part II.

Based on that, we could easily understand what’s going on. In my opinion, we should be focused on an early 2019 release, more precisely in the first six months of next year.
