The Last of Us Part II is one step closer to being completed, at least for what matters the shooting of the scenes with the motion capture technology.

Co-writer and Naughty Dog vice president Neil Druckmann has shared a new tweet where he reveals that Joel and Ellie’s scenes have been wrapped up.

So, based on this intel from Druckmann, work on scenes involving the protagonists – which should be on the screen the most of the playtime, from what we know – is over.

It’s nice to see Joel been included in this mention since Ellie is taking over is role as the playable character, and there have been rumors of him being dead since he’s never been shown in trailers so far. We can’t rule that theory out even now.

“And that’s a wrap on Ellie, Joel, and the most ambitious cinematic shoot we’ve ever done,” Druckmann said.

On top of the ambition, which he is pretty proud of, he also said that “tears were shed…,” so this scene will be particularly touching and could indeed feature the death of Joel or something tragic.

It is worth to note that the ending has already been shot a few days ago, so it’ll be a separate scene from this one with both Ellie and Joel involved.

Could it be that Joel won’t be there for the ending of the journey? Who knows.

In the meantime, anyway, an insider has revealed that Sony and Naughty Dog are still aiming for a release in 2019, even though that could be a tough challenge since there are only eight months left.
