Naughty Dog has revealed that The Last of Us Part II will release on February 21, 2020, for PS4 and PS4 Pro, and they did that with brand new gameplay and story trailer that also debuted Joel and the special editions soon available for pre-order.

However, the good news is not ending now. The developer has shared that the much-hyped and anticipated media event held in Los Angeles a few hours ago will lead to previews which are going to be available on the Outbreak Day.

During the media event, members of the press have been able to go “hands-on with two new levels,” which means that they played “roughly three hours of the game.”

“Thankfully, you won’t have to wait long to see and hear more about it,” said creative director Neil Druckmann. “Their impressions and videos will be going live this Thursday, September 26, around 8:00 am PT, or, as many fans of The Last of Us know it: Outbreak Day.”

The Outbreak Day, a reminder just in case you missed it, is “inspired by the day the cordyceps fungus reached critical mass,” and this year Naughty Dog has “some exciting things planned,” too, so you’d better stay tuned for more on that.

Of course, we don’t expect negative impressions to come out of the event, but considering that TLOU 2 is being considered “the longest” game in the history of ND, we sure are eager to learn what that all will mean for the game design and story – could it be more open like 2018’s God of War and Gears 5? We’ll see.
