One of the biggest mysteries of the generation is when The Last of Us Part II is releasing for PlayStation 4.

The lack of information and over the top E3 2018 presentation even let someone believe that the game was destined to a next-gen platform.

Anyway, according to the Peruvian retailer LawGamers, it isn’t the case, as the title from Naughty Dog would even be coming this year.

A leak from the retailer has indeed promotional assets showing rather clearly an October 2019 release window.

Of course, we don’t know where this release window is coming from, but as it happens with retailers there’s always a chance they know something we don’t, perhaps by participating to trade events of sorts.

So, until the rumor gets debunked by Sony or Naughty Dog itself, we can’t have any certainty about the genuinity or fakery of the date.

In our opinion, it would be a bit surprising to see The Last of Us Part II releasing in the middle of the “third party season,” when all the external publishers are dropping their games.

It’s worth noting, anyway, that the season in question won’t be as crowded as this year’s, since Rockstar Games won’t be dropping another game and another blockbuster like Assassin’s Creed won’t be there.

So, it’d be curious but we can’t tell that would be impossible, especially if you consider that the game was among the protagonists at the recent Destination PlayStation event.
