If you have been dying to relive Joel and Ellie’s adventure once again, this time with various visual and gameplay feature improvements on the PS5, then you are in luck. Naughty Dog has announced the release date and unlock time for the PS5 remake of The Last of Us Part 1.

The Last of Us Part 1 PS5 – Unlock Time

Over on its official Twitter account, Naughty Dog shared the unlock time map/graphic for the PS5 The Last of Us Part 1 in specific regions around the world:

  • 9 PM PDT, September 1. This unlock time applies to the West Coast US region.
  • 12 AM EDT, September 2. This unlock time applies to the East Coast US as well as every other region worldwide.

As seen above, most gamers will be able to play the game on September 2 at midnight, but PS5 owners in Los Angeles and other West Coast are will be able to play it early at 9 PM. Thankfully, if you pre-ordered the game, you can check a countdown timer in your Game Library and set up the auto-download feature, and it is available to be pre-loaded on the PlayStation Store, so you don’t have to wait at the exact time. The Last of Us Part 1 is unlocked to start downloading it. Keep in mind that The Last of Us Part 1 remake will take 68 GB of your storage and is only available on the PS5; if you haven’t bought one yet, you can get The Last of Us Remastered for the PS4 instead.

After the release of The Last of Us Part 1 on PS5, the new remake is said to receive a PC port too, although no exact date or time has been specified as of yet. The game is also getting a live-action show adaptation to be streamed on HBO Max.

The Last of Us Part I launches on September 2, 2022, for the PlayStation 5. The PC port will be announced at a later date.
