Screen Gems, the studio making the Resident Evil films has announced today that they will be bringing The Last of Us to the big screen.

The studio announced today that they will be distributing the film and will have Sam Raimi, from the Spider Man and Evil Dead series producing the film. He will also produce the film, along with his Naughty Dog colleagues, Co-presidents’ Cristophe Belestra, Evan Wells and the Game Director of The Last of Us, Bruce Straley.

In a statement, Wells said, “our partnership with Sam Raimi, Ghost House Pictures, and Screen Gems to develop a film based on The Last of Us universe is a perfect fit.” Wells also went on to say that since the game was released last June the studio had been looking for a company to make a film adaptation of the game. Now, with Sam Raimi and Screen Gems they have finally found the perfect fit and are excited to make the movie.
