Following the news that The Last of Us Part 2 has been delayed indefinitely, Sony has officially pulled the game from the PlayStation Store. According to the PlayStation Support site, refunds will be handed out automatically and will see their account credited soon. This means those looking to pre-order the game digitally can no longer do so for the foreseeable future.
The news also comes with the de-listing of Iron Man VR, another high-profile release delayed due to the COVID-19 outbreak. People who purchased Iron Man VR will also see a refund credited to their accounts in the next few days. The Last of Us Part 2 and Iron Man VR were due to release May 29th and May 15th respectively. There are currently no renewed release dates for either title.
It seems we won’t be seeing any sign of The Last of Us Part 2 any time soon. De-listing a pre-order is no small feat, and there will undoubtedly be an abundance of players owed a refund. There’s currently no news on how the delay will affect physical pre-orders. We can probably expect individual retailers to begin handling the situation in the coming days.
The COVID-19 outbreak has had a detrimental effect on gaming and the media industry as a whole. Despite this, Sony is still adamant that the PS5 launch will be going ahead as planned.
