When The King of Fighters XV launched last month, the roster consisted of 39 fighters to choose from. At that time, developer SNK announced plans to add 12 more fighters via paid DLC throughout the year. The first DLC, Team GAROU, added three characters last month. Today, SNK revealed a thirteenth character. This April, Omega Rugal is coming to The King of Fighters XV as free DLC.
Omega Rugal debuted in The King of Fighters ’95 as the game’s final boss. Since then, he has made appearances in several King of Fighters games. What is his motive for returning in The King of Fighters XV? Well, according to today’s press release:
The Omega Rugal DLC will add “BOSS CHALLENGE” mode
Today’s announcement also revealed a new game mode for The King of Fighters XV. In the new BOSS CHALLENGE mode, Omega Rugal will be controlled by the computer. Defeating him will grant the player some rewards, including new armor, new music, and a new stage.
The Omega Rugal DLC for The King of Fighters XV will launch on April 14, 2022. The next three characters, Team SOUTH TOWN, will arrive in May as paid DLC, followed by two more unannounced teams. Including all DLC, The King of Fighters XV‘s roster will feature 52 characters by the end of the year.
