A 1996 Sega classic is making its way to Nintendo Switch. The House of the Dead is getting a remake, and Forever Entertainment will handle the mission of bringing it back from the grave – no pun intended. According to the announcement, the team is working on resurrecting The House of the Dead 1 and 2 and is currently about to release the first installment anytime this year.
The House of the Dead: Remake – what can you expect? After 25 years, expect the graphics to look smoother and the sounds crispier. It still has that classic look that you are probably familiar with. And since you will play on Nintendo Switch, expect modern controls as well.
House of the Dead 1 initially spooked us in the arcades in 1996. Where we can play either as Agent Thomas Rogan or his buddy G. The game plays as a first-person, on-rails rampage through a creepy old mansion. And the weapon of choice is a light gun to obliterate Dr. Curien’s wicked zombie creations.
It was ported to the Sega Saturn in 1998, but due to its hardware shortcomings, the port was such a letdown versus the arcade version. Later, the same port was made available for PC.
Here are its features, according to Nintendo:
- You will get to meet hordes of undead monsters in a fast-paced rail-shooter.
- Expect the same hair-raising original gameplay.
- Nostalgic arcade classic with modern graphics and controls.
- Immerse yourself in the story with multiple endings.
Like in the arcades, The House of the Dead: Remake can accommodate one to two players. And since it is on Nintendo Switch, you can play on TV mode, tabletop mode, or handheld mode. Currently, the supported languages are Japanese, French, German, Russian, Chinese, Spanish, Italian, and English.
