From the creators of SteamWorld, comes another adventure title. The Gunk has been taking over another world. But two adventurers happen upon it. And they task themselves with cleaning up the corruptive ooze. Will they be able to save a beautiful world from overgrown, grotesque creatures? Only time call tell if The Gunk will be cleaned up in this action-adventure.
The Gunk Gameplay Trailer
During the Xbox Gamescom showcase, the publisher Thunderful shared a first look at their title’s gameplay. In the trailer, Raini, one of the main characters, happens upon an alien world. As their exploration continues, things about The Gunk come to light. The only thing left of its former beauty is the wildlife. What happened to the alien civilization that once lived here? And why are they now gone? Using a special prosthetic glove she calls Pumpkin, Raini must clean up the parasitic ooze.
The Gunk is an action-adventure that places emphasis on exploration. And as one continues through the world, they slowly reveal the beauty that once existed here. While a simple exploration game at its core, developers hope it strikes a chord with players. How does one stay close with a friend when some things might put them at odds? And how do we save an environment that looks like it’s quickly losing its life?
This is the first 3D title by developers of SteamWorld. And it was their mission to make it a more cinematic experience. Experience a story-driven sci-fi story driven by character development.
The Gunk will hit Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S consoles this December. And it will arrive for Windows PC in the fall of 2022. Make sure to mark the date in your calendars.
