The Game Awards 2021 are in full swing, and the night is sure to be full of exciting announcements! The much-anticipated Senua‘s Saga: Hellblade 2 made an appearance during the awards show with a full-length gameplay trailer.

Geoff Keighley told the audience the trailer was recorded in-game just this past weekend, and it opens with Senua and her warrior companions hunting what appears to be a giant in its lair. The giant, injured and bloody, crawls out of its cave after the assault and sets many of Senua’s warriors on fire. The scene concludes with the giant saying he recognizes Senua as a single tear tracks down her cheek.

Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice launched in 2017 for PlayStation, but it moved onto Xbox and PC in 2018 after Ninja Theory was acquired by Microsoft. It follows Senua as she journeys into Helheim in hopes of rescuing her dead lover. Hellblade was highly praised for its portrayal of mental illness and the thorough research done by the development team. The sequel is set in ninth-century Iceland and follows the events of Senua’s Sacrifice. However, the finer details of the plot have yet to be announced.

Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 is coming exclusively to Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Windows PC from Ninja Theory. Hellblade 2 was originally announced in 2019 during The Game Awards, but little of it has been seen since. As of right now, an official release window has yet to be announced.
