The official Game Awards YouTube Channel has published a video with more information on the Game Awards showcase happening on December 8, 2022. The video confirms that the official announcement of The Game Awards 2022 Nominees will occur next Monday, November 14, 2022, at 9 AM/Noon ET.
The Game Awards 2022: Nominee Date and More
The Game Awards 2022 showcase will officially kick off on December 8, 2022, with host Geoff Keighley returning to present the biggest gaming show again. The official nominees for each category will be confirmed on November 14, 2022, at 9 AM PT/Noon ET, according to the newest video released on the official YouTube page.
The Game Awards 2022 will be live-streamed across 40 different platforms worldwide, including YouTube, Twitch, Facebook Tiktok, and more, and will be the 9th annual showcase.
This year’s categories will be mostly the same but also include a new Best Adaptation category, which is described as the following:
“The Best Adaptation Award is a way for the gaming industry and its fans to tip their hat to creative work that authentically adapts and often adds lore and context to our favorite gaming franchises. With so many game-inspired projects across entertainment, the time is right to honor excellence in adapting video game worlds to other mediums.”
Many video game movies have come out over the past few years that are considered to be critical successes, such as Detective Pikachu and Sonic the Hedgehog 2, the latter of which will be receiving the third installment in late 2024.
IMAX will also be collaborating with The Game Awards to create a LIVE community event for cities across the world to experience the show live, dubbed The Game Awards: The IMAX Experience.
