December 8, 2022, is a day many of us gamers will remember. That night, we had one of, if not, the biggest gaming ceremonies of the decade. During its ninth run, The Game Awards of 2022 reached a huge number of views. It isn’t that surprising given how amazing the night was. While 2022 was still a year a bit slow on gaming releases, we had some great ones nonetheless. Huge games like Horizon Forbidden West, God of War: Ragnarok, Elden Ring, and many more. Beyond that, we also had over 30 world premieres that day which contributed to the huge number of views during the ceremony.

The Game Awards of 2022 reached a total of 103 Million views across all the streaming platforms

That’s right. 103 million was the number of views that The Game Awards of 2022 had. This is by far the highest viewership number the event has had since it began nine years ago. Here is the breakdown of the numbers of each major platform:

  • Twitter: 11.5M views
  • Steam: 9.5M views
  • YouTube: 1.33M views

These are just the famous platforms, of course, many other views came from other sites as well. This shows how excited the community was during that night. Also, Valve was giving away a Steam Deck every minute during the show so, that’s also another reason.

The Game Awards Announces 10-Year Celebration Concert

Giveaways aside, the show boasted some of the best announcements we’ve had in many years. We got to see Death Stranding 2 already in the works and Hades 2 as well. Horizon Forbidden West is getting a DLC and Final Fantasy 16 finally announced its release date. But it wasn’t just premiers and announcements. The awards were great as well. While God of War: Ragnarok took home many prizes, it was Elden Ring who took the Game of the Year award. All of these things surely contributed to the views of The Game Awards of 2022. Comparing them to the 85 million for the 2021 edition of the awards, it is nice to see that more people are becoming fans of games and of this event. We can only hope that the 10th edition of The Game Awards brings even bigger things and here’s to yet another year of great gaming news!
