It’s been a tumultuous first year for Destiny 2, but the developers at Bungie are promising a bright future. A Year 2 reveal stream will be hosted by Bungie on June 5 at 11am CT, a week before E3.

It’s expected that a new, large-scale expansion, due to release some time in the fall, will be the star of the reveal, but further sandbox tweaks and content updates will probably be on display as well. If Bungie is following suit with Destiny 1’s post-launch content cycle, then this will be an expansion to look forward to, as The Taken King revamped the original title and brought back many players.

The teaser image for the stream looks a lot like it features the Reef, a location from Destiny 1, where the Queen of the Awoken lived. This area was part of the House of Wolves expansion, and can be seen briefly in a cutscene at the very end of Destiny 2’s campaign.

“You’ll hear from many members of our development team, who will set some big goals for September in their own words,” Bungie community manager David “DeeJ” Dague said. “We’ll explore deeper into new territory with Game Director Steve Cotton and Project Lead Scott Taylor—two faces that you might recognize from previous reveals. We’ll respond to a bunch of community feedback and unveil some other things you haven’t even been looking forward to… yet. We’ll top it all off with a look at a new Roadmap with exciting new promises for everyone.”

Destiny 2’s most recent expansion, Warmind, offered many improvements over the base game and added endgame activities with new rewards. While some players have returned to the game, many felt scorned to the point of staying away. Bungie and Activision are undoubtedly hoping that Year 2 will bring players back into the fold and attract new ones as well.
