Korean video game developers have recently taken the industry by storm. Games like Crimson Desert and Project M push the boundaries of visual fidelity. Nexon’s The First Descendant looks to follow in the same footsteps as its official teaser trailer.

Similar to Outriders, The First Descendant is a third-person cooperative looter shooter that does not skimp on graphics. Nexon has chosen Unreal Engine 5 as the game’s engine, which will probably look very impressive on current generation consoles.

Although the reveal trailer is fairly short, it does show some snippets of gameplay, and the game seems very impressive, especially considering the genre.

How Does The First Descendant Play?

The game’s developer Nexon has confirmed some details of what we can expect. The game has various characters to choose from, each with its own personality and fighting abilities. The company plans to add more customization options to The First Descendant so each character can look unique and play differently.

The First Descendant is set to feature “colorful firearms” that will probably function how you expect, but what sets it apart is the game’s focus on movement and traversal. As seen in the trailer, you will have the ability to use grappling hooks to swing around during combat, which will allow you to chain together attacks.

Nexon is focusing on cooperative play for The First Descendant. The boss fights are designed for up to four players to fight side-by-side and have some interesting enemy designs.

Each character will be equipped with three main guns and four secondary weapons. Besides the usual items, players will also have special abilities to augment combat options.

The First Descendant does not have a release date at the time of writing, but the teaser confirms that it will be coming on current and last gen consoles and PC.
