One of the biggest horror games from 2017 (well, aside from Resident Evil 7) was The Evil Within 2. In the game, there is a first-person section, despite the game being mostly a third-person experience. This caused fans to wonder what the rest of the game would be like in first-person, but now they don’t have to wonder anymore.
A post on the official Bethesda blog states that a new, free update for The Evil Within 2 becomes available today that effectively changes the game from a third-person game to a first-person game in its entirety. Well, most of its entirety; producer Shinsaku Ohara explains that there are a few sections of the game that just don’t work from a first-person perspective, so those stay third-person, but the rest of the game is playable in first-person. Players will be able to turn first-person mode on and off whenever they want from the game’s menu.
This first-person mode is also available in the game’s free trial, so if you haven’t played the game yet, but the prospect of playing from the perspective of the protagonist intrigues you, you can test it out first before deciding to buy the full game or not. The Evil Within 2 is available for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC, and the new first-person mode is available to all players regardless of console.
