The Eternals, or as I like to call it “Disney’s attempt at the next Guardians of the Galaxy.” Guardians up until a few years ago was a lesser-known superhero group. With the right casting and excellent writing of the first movie, the group quickly became household names. Disney looks to recapture that same magic, with another mostly unheard of (at least to the average viewer) group that can create fun memories and of course money. The Eternals might be even more ambitious than its predecessor. An immortal alien race created by the Celestials with a story that spans over thousands of years.
The Eternals Cast is Safe
Today’s news comes from a real-life crisis that happened onset. There was a bomb found at one of the filming sets at the Canary Islands in Spain. However, it wasn’t just any bomb. Nope, this one happened to be an undetonated World War II bomb. All cast and crew members were forced to evacuate. This included the likes of Angelina Jolie and Richard Madden. Meanwhile, bomb disposal experts were brought onsite to expertly (no amateurs allowed folks) and safely disarm the bomb.
No Laughing Matter
The jokes are sure to flow from the internet. However, after just a small amount of research, there is an alarming number of active bombs in the world from World War II. It seems the set of The Eternals is just one area you’ll find these unwanted leftovers. According to the national interest website, there are estimated to be over 2,500 undetonated bombs in Munich alone. One or two detonate without warning each year, yikes! That’s just in Munich, with all of Germany and surrounding countries there are likely thousands more bombs that are undiscovered. I believe I’ll be watching my step when I visit Europe someday.
For now, though the threat is over. The bomb has been properly disarmed. The cast and crew of The Eternals are safe and production is likely to resume shortly. They’re aiming to hit that release date of November 6th, 2020.
