Get ready, because the king of comedy is back. Adult Swim revealed that The Eric Andre Show will have a fifth season, and will premiere in late October. For those unaware, The Eric Andre Show is a parody of the late-night talk show genre.  The show incorporates a mix of absurdist public skits and surreal interviews with different celebrities.

If you have never heard of The Eric Andre Show, the teaser will honestly overstimulate the senses. It features Andre destroying his set, strangling a clown with balloons, and removing his own head and scoring a goal with it. While the show was first a satire of the talk shows, it has grown into a bizarre genre of surrealist art. For example, a segment where Andre dresses up in a green mocap suit and accosts people on the streets of New York uses fast-paced editing and graphics in a way most mainstream comedy shows never do.

After four seasons, there was not much hope that the show would return.  Given the show has become more prolific as the years went on, Andre said it was becoming harder to prank guests the same way as before.

The Eric Andre Show Returns Crazier Than Ever

It is genuinely exciting to see the announcement of a new season for The Eric Andre Show, given how television has been impacted by the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. Celebrities that have guest-starred on the show include Haley Joel Osmont, Mel B, and Reese Witherspoon. Some guests have been in on the joke and rolled with the craziness, but most guests genuinely think they are going on a regular talk show.

To celebrate the announcement, Adult Swim is running a 24/7 marathon of the entire series on their website.  Season 5 of The Eric Andre Show will premiere on Adult Swim at midnight on October 25.
