Epic Games lands a major exclusivity deal.

The follow-up to 2016’s Tom Clancy’s The Division, Tom Clancy’s The Division 2, will be coming out later this year on PC and consoles. Today (January 9), some big news about the PC version of the game was just announced.

Ubisoft recently revealed that the PC version of The Division 2 will be available only on the Epic Games store, as well as Ubisoft’s own website. Fortnite developer and Unreal Engine creator Epic Games launched their store just recently and have been making strides to dethrone Half-Life and Portal developer Valve’s Steam store, which has become one of the most popular sites for buying and selling PC games. The Epic Games store has also attained exclusivity deals for Supergiant Games’ PC game Hades and the PC version of the final episodes of Telltale’s (now Skybound’s) The Walking Dead: The Final Season (those who previously purchased the Season Pass on Steam will still be able to download the upcoming episodes without having to buy the game again on the Epic Games store, however). But securing exclusivity with a high profile game like The Division 2 from a company as big as Ubisoft is a much more significant deal. Ubisoft also stated that they will continue to partner with the Epic Games store to release more games throughout the year.

The Division 2 will be available on Xbox One and PlayStation 4, in addition to PC, on March 15.
