The world’s much loved 80’s home computer, the C64, is going to be seeing a relaunch in miniature in 2018.

Riding the wave of the NES & SNES Mini systems, THEC64® Mini has been announced, and the classic console will be half the size of the original, come with a USB joystick that plugs into one of two USB ports on the device, and will allow you to play the built-in games bundled with the console.

It will be able to plug into any modern TV via a HDMI port, and gamers will have a selection of an appropriate 64 games built-in to the unit. 

The selection includes, along with many others:

  • Epoxy
  • Gremlin Graphics
  • Hewson and The Bitmap Brothers
  • California Games
  • Speedball 2: Brutal Deluxe
  • Paradroid
  • Impossible Mission

There’s obviously going to be more than enough classics in the collection available at launch to entertain retro enthusiasts, spanning the spectrum of titles available from the rose tinted past.

The managing Director of Retro Games, Paul Andrews said in the press release;

“We are delighted to be able to bring back some of the most loved retro games ever, on one of the most successful formats of all time. […] THEC64® mini is a reimagining of the classic C64 computer and the first in a planned series of products on the way.”

The unit will also support a USB keyboard input for typing old BASIC computer listings and to program new games.

THEC64® Mini is set to go on sale in early 2018, with a suggested retail price of £69.99/$69.99/€79.99
